Traditional Metal Braces
Silver metal braces are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable, smaller and less noticeable today than ever before. metal braces are made of high-grade stainless steel. Many of our patients choose the metal braces due to the option of adding different colored elastics for a fun and colorful smile.
Clear Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are made of clear materials and are therefore less visible on your teeth than metal braces. Older teenagers and adults who have cosmetic concerns tend to prefer this type of brace. While the ceramic braces are less visible, they do require more attention to oral hygiene as they are larger and are more brittle than their metal counterparts. We only place clear braces on the upper teeth as the ceramic can wear the upper teeth if placed on the lower teeth.
Self – Ligating Braces
Ligating braces utilizes “sliding-door” technology that allows the wire to slide back and forth within the bracket. No elastic or steel ties are used in a self-ligating brace. Dr. Bailey has extensive experience using the Damon® System, In-Ovation System®, SmartClip ™ System, the SPEED system, and multiple other systems.
Invisible (Clear) Orthodontic Appliances
Invisalign®
The invisalign aligners are clear as well as removable, so there are no eating or drinking limitations while in treatment. Brushing and flossing is also more convenient compared to the traditional braces. The aligners are comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. And no metal and wires usually means you spend less time in your doctor’s office getting adjustments. Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
